Muscular III: Muscle movement starts with an M (the M line that is)
Objectives (TLWBAT)
Hello folks! Since all but one of you were not able to come this week, this post will be all about what I want you to study before next Saturday.
First off, to review last week, complete the muscle function matching review. (limit to 10 minutes)
Next, those of you who participated in the jigsaw will post their presentations and talk a little about it in this thread.
Simply post a reply with a link to your presentation and/or whatever had chosen to use to explain your topic. I will add onto it with the cellular details concerning how muscles produce heat and the effects of exercise, the effects of aging, and how skeletal muscles move and maintain posture. (Posting and reading, 20 minutes)
We will use this jigsaw method again when reviewing skeletal diseases. See the skeletal disorder jigsaw homework thread for more details and be sure to post your disorder of choice to research.
Then, use your book to complete the labeling and definition worksheet. I advise you to do this before moving onto the last bit because understanding cellular anatomy is going to be beneficial to you before you start to explore basic sliding filament theory. (20 minutes)
Lastly, please watch the linked videos on the Crash Course Anatomy viewing guide and answer the questions that go along with it. the order of the videos and questions do correspond. (25 minutes)
This is definitely a long list and tall order, but there was much to do and review this week because the muscular system is an absolute bear. You will notice however, the anticipated completion times are about equal to how long we normally meet and if you do the tasks in small chunks throughout the week it doesn't seem like so much work.
Complete the above tasks by 11:59pm Friday 2/12 and submit them to me by either a message through the forum, email, sharing through google drive, mail pigeon, etc. Keys will be posted at midnight.
Please also tell me if there is another practice time that might work better for you or if Saturdays would still be best. Because of my schedule, the next best option would be Wednesday during late start, evenings (ie around 6:30pm-8pm) on Monday/Thursday/Friday or alternate weekend times. (Email reply question)
Thanks!
